Canada Day inspired art

Canada Day inspired art

We decided to pull the easel out and do some outdoor painting.  I love being outdoors and art can be so much fun outside not to mention that nature is a great inspiration.

Here is my daughter painting a Canadian flag.  Before we started I showed her a picture from one of our books so she could remember what the flag looks like.  She quickly painted a leaf in the center and two stripes on the side.  In the middle picture there is another option for a painted flag which is a hand print maple leaf and two large smudges for the stripes.

My eldest daughter was at school during this painting session so she decided to make her own flag with a wooden stick and paper.

While we crafted we discussed all the wonderful things about Canada and how very fortunate we are to have been born and living here.

A fun book about Canada is ‘M is for Maple, A Canadian Alphabet’ by Mike Ulmer, each letter of the alphabet gives a tid bit about Canada.

Happy Canada Day!!
